"Four Kinds of People In the World"
Rosalyn Carter, wife of President Jimmy Carter, said it best: " There are only four kinds of people in the world - those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers."

Why do you call yourself CareGiver Guy? Just curious
CareGiverGuy's Blog was created to voice my frustration as a CareGiver and now as a platform for all caregivers. Frustration, sleepless nights, loneliness and the endless cycle of repetitive questions ended with me stepping out in the middle of the night and screaming at the top of my lungs "I can't take it anymore." My lifeline have been 800-Support Groups phone lines, Alzheimer's support groups, and now the support of caregivers, nationwide. I hope you will use this site to voice your concerns, frustrations, and hopefully suggest some good CareGiver tips for our community.
I'm CareGiver Guy.
I've been taking care of mom by myself since my brother died in 1993. My journey as caregiver to my 83-year old mom began with these words....
"Your Mother Has Binswanger's Disease"
Binswanger's Disease is a rare, progressive neurological disorder characterized by injuries (lesions) to the blood vessels supplying the deep white-matter of the brain. Affected individuals usually experience a gradual loss of memory, cognitive, and behavioral abilities, usually over a ten-year period. In some cases, symptoms and physical findings associated with Binswanger's disease may stabilize or improve for a brief time; however, in most cases, progression of the disorder usually returns. Affected individuals experience progressive memory loss and deterioration of the disorder usually returns.; Affected individuals experience progressive memory loss and deterioration of intellectual abilities (dementia), stokes, paralysis of one or the other side of the body (hemiparesis), electrical disturbance in the brain (seizures), and/or abnormally slow, unsteady walk (abnormal gait).
